Gen 4 99 camry turbo

1999 2.2 5speed...is this possible to turbo? i know that i wont ever see her past 200hp but it would be fun to give her some more kick.i have a little over $1,000 with more avail soon. i was reading that the newer 5sfe engines wont fit up to some part.is this true? I did use the search feature but i really didn't find anything that would answer my question. i would be doing all of the install myself too if it ends up being possible. how much am i looking to spend realistically? also i saw posts about turbo kits but they seemed to be a couple years old. are there kits or do i need to buy everything separate.

thanks

I think the biggest issue is your $1000.. You need to save triple that before you decide you want a turbo on there And then save up some more because the car has to be professionally tuned and you can't do that yourself.

If I could turbo for 1k... I'd bloody do it, and same with everyone else here.

The parts alone are gonna cost at least double that, as well as taking the car to the shop for tuning as Tony said.

What about supercharging? Is it less work than turbocharging? How about money?
I have a V6 engine, I know there is TRD Supercharger for this engine, but it is very rare. Is it possible to find a different one that would fit?

P.S. Sorry, didn't want to start another thread.

^ you need to search and not thread jack ^. or pm someone WITH a supercharger...me, ASG14, eye8pussies, ect...

OP...im not sure what mods ya have now but id start small and see where ya get. start with the basics, I/H/E, some suspension and cosmetics and if after all that ya want to turbo you can go from there. the biggest problem with our motors starts not with the motor but with the tranny. since you already have a manual then any gains from a full exhaust or other smaller mods will be greater then on the auto.
