I4 manuel will hold with a V6 auto during acceleration if i remember correctly. This is assuming 1MZ and 5S engines, of course. I believe I4 autos do 0-60 in the 12s, manuals in the 11s, V6 autos in the 9s and V6 manuals in the 8s. Don't quote me on that though.

i think your right on the dot..i had a friend time me before (with his stop watch) and it took exactly 12 secs for my auto to reach 60. but then again it was a stop watch so it could have been more or less
I think the i4 auto does 0-60 in roughly 10.9. When I timed it, it was around 11.2 or so, but I don't know how accurate that is. My preference in order would be this: V6 manual, i4 manual, V6 automatic, i4 automatic.
the 92 SE V6 with a 5spd was quoted doing a 0-60 in 7.2 secs..far faster than the auto box 3VZ-FE and even faster than th eauto or manual 5S-FE CAmry's. i drive a 92 SE with a 3VZ-FE and a 5spd and i can tell you that the car really accelerates well. here's the road test on the SE:

same here. which is why i've owned 3/4 (the two v6's and the i4 manual)
