Brakes or wheel berings broken?

My 94 camry 2.2 have developed some problem with the left rear wheel. I'm not sure if its a wheel bearing or the brakes.

Symptom:
The car starts to shake/vibrate and the wheel gets hot!
The intensity of the vibrations seems to follow the temperature of the brake/bearing

I have had cars with sticking brake calipers before but this seems to be different. The wheel duns smoothly if i back up tha car but while driving forward there is some resistance. There is a sort of Click/thump sound when this happens. I have tried jacking up the car and manually turning the wheel forward/backward and same conclusion then. Wheel got resistance counter clockwise but not clockwise.

This have happened before also but then i just stopped the car. backed up a little and continued then it was fine for maybe 2 weeks.

(Its regular disk brakes no ABS)

Anyone experienced same symptoms?

Are the rear brakes drums or discs? Here in the states the 94 2.2 liter 4 cylinders had rear drums, unless the car came with the optional ABS brakes, which you stated you don't have. Are 94 Camrys sold in Europe different?

If you have rear drums, jack up that side of the car, remove the wheel annd then the drum and inspect the shoes and the hardware. The shoes could have come apart or parts of the hardware could have broken or come loose. If you need a Toyota factory service manual for your 94 go over to the top of the Camry forum over at AutomotiveForums.com. You can download one there for free. Download the generation 3 manual and refer to the brake section which is section BR.

Its Disc brakes. I changed brake pads a few months ago.

Seems like there is a difference between US and European models then, Do both sedan and Station wagon 2.2 camrys in the US have drum brakes? mine is a Station wagon. Probably same rear brakes as a US V6 maybe?

im sure the wagons came with disc in rears, a few fellow TN members i believe upgraded the drums to disc from wagons found at local junkyard

in addition to whats mike said, to check for bad bearing grab the top and bottom / and or left and right of the tire while car is properly supported to check for any movement.

quick youtube video i found :
this isnt my video just an illustration to check bearing
