3rd Generation No Start '92 2.2

This is a spare car, only started once a month. 170k. Last week, no start. I thought I was chasing a fuel pump problem because I didn't hear the pump prime. After a couple of guys here said to jumper +B & FP, it does turn on. I spent the day troubleshooting...I checked the Open Circuit Relay, is check good. I loosened the top line on the fuel filter and I have fuel there. So I'm thinking it's not a fuel problem. The plugs are dry (I thought they would be wet). I checked for spark. I have spark (yellowish, maybe weak). I checked the coil & pickup, both tested Ok. The Igniter is Ok I think because the tach moves just a little when cranking...Can the distributor still be bad???

If you've got dry plugs, you've got a fuel problem.

Did you try JohnGD's suggestion in your original thread at Fuel Pump??? ?

Sort of...I cranked the car with the top fuel filter loose, and it came out strong. That's why I'm thinking it's not a FP/fuel problem, but maybe the injectors are not getting a signal to turn on...

If you have a voltmeter, you can check for reference voltage on the injector harness connectors. Should be +5V. Remove the connector and turn ignition to "on". Attach the negative probe to the engine block or chassis, then use the positive probe to check for your +5V.

If your getting spark ,the igniter is doing its job. Weak or good spark will depend on the coil. Yes, the coil can ohm out fine. Any cracks in the resin packing or plastic, especially near the high tension lead can result in spark leakage. If it's got cracks, replace it. Its a good idea to ohm out the pickup coils while testing the ignition coil.
