3rd Generation Rear suspension HELP!

My driver rear tokico Blue strut is blown out, i know that and in the process of getting it replaced, but the passenger rear is also going out (I thought tokicos were better then that, only about 30k miles on em) I just replaced one of my rear control arms, it was bent to heck, but for the past year, and getting worse...

When i get a bump, i get this crazy rattling thumping sound, and the bigger the bump the more it thumps, and its coming from the Rear passenger side. We couldnt find anything loose back there, its not the exhaust system, it has to do with the strut.

I'm thinking the strut came loose, And im looking for a cheap fix untill i replace the rear struts altogether.

I know this site has em, but im overloaded with things to look at, IS THERE AN EASY HOW TO PICTURE GUIDE OF HOW TO DISSASSEMBLE THE REAR STRUTS?!

I have a 96 camry le with 220k miles, woot!

Here's a link to a thread for rear strut R&R on a '92 Camry. Your '96 is likely very similar.

sounds like a broken strut mount.

check to see if the piston rod is damaged/scratched. if the mount broke, it may have been scraping against something that would damage the surface causing it to fail.

A worn endlink will give you one hell of a rattling racket over bumps.

3rd Generation

Where would an End link be located? I'll have my mechanic friend look at it prolly over the weekend, but i know my driver side rear strut is gone, but the passenger rear doesnt necessarily mean its going out either. Because hitting bumps it feels the strut is working, but the other side the car will pitch and weave all over the place when the broken shock hits a bump.

Should i still call Tokico up anyway and work on getting 2 struts for the rear instead of one? They have a funny warranty, they'd rather me have my car on blocks for a month and have me send the broken struts back with 2 new ones. OR
send em 180$ and they send me the struts, and i replace em and send the old struts back for a refund. Like a rebate kinda thing. ideas?
