Yet another clutch question

On my "new" 99 Camry V6 5 Speed 120,000 miles - What is the hydraulic accumulator?
What does it do? Is it just mounted on the trans, or does it interact with it? - Perhaps as an interlock to prevent clutchless shifts?
Do I need it? What can go wrong with it? Why is it there?
The Haynes manual does not say much about it except how to replace it.
I ask these questions because the clutch engages close to the floor but there are no leaks(good slave) and the clutch will hold pressure (master cylinder good internally). I see that there a lot of forum questions about clutch peddle height and feel - so my questions are probably answered elsewhere - but I cant find it.
If the peddle was high or the clutch slipped I would suspect a worn out clutch. Bent release fingers can give a low engagement - but I am not replacing a clutch that works - even if it is low.
For now ... What is an "accumulator" and why is it there?

no idea, i never heard of it.

for release hight, mine set the same, but mine is for quick shifts.

look where the rod from the slave meets the peddle arm, there a cotter pin and bolt connecting them remove and push the rod in to slave and you see you can spin out the adjuster.

now the hard part i think you make the rod shorter for higher engagement and longer for lower, but i'm not sure. also new clutch fluid helps.
