Arrow 1MZ-FE Serpentine Belt Removal???

I'm trying to put a new power steering belt on my 97 Camry V6 and it appears before I do that I must remove the serpentine belt (drive belt) first. Anyone have any tips for removing it??? I don't know if there is a tensioner I can adjust or whether there is anything else I can loosen to help get the serpentine belt to come off.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Mark

To change the P/S pump belt. Loosen the pivot bolt and the 14mm adjusting bolt and yank hard on the belt and the pump will move enough to get the belt off. (Its easier w/ the RF wheel and splash shield off). A pry bar may be necessary if it's sticking.

If you mean the alternator belt then loosen the pivot boltand adjusting lock. Then adjust the adjusting bolt. Simply push it down to loosen the belt for removal.

Is the alternator belt tension adjusted solely by the alternator? I'm trying to figure out how to remove my a/c compressor, and was wondering if the a/c compressor also controls the tension of that belt, or if it's just the alternator itself?

The Alt has pinch bolt and an adjuster bolt. These work together to adjust the tension of the AC & Alt belt tension. The power steering pump is a pain and it doesn't move easily. As said above, spread the belt and it will force the pump to move once the bolts are loose. It is stubborn!
