***need Help, I Can"t See****

ok, so I took out the stock stereo in my 2001 camry 4 cyl. Suddenly the speedometer gauge and the climate control dial lights stopped turning on. the digital clock/engine problem lights still work along with all the other electrical appliances. I checked the fuse boxes and none of the fuses are blown. i check the wire lines behing my new stereo deck, wondering if i had maybe exposed a wire, shorting out the wirework, but they all seemed to be in place.
I havent checked if the power surge maybe just blew out the bulbs but i find it unlikely that they would both blow at the same time.
********I believe it has something to do with the "illumination wire" but I am not sure how it i saffecting the other components. The "illumination wire" is current not hooked up because on the configuration of my stereo. Would the "illumination wire" be causing me all this headache??????****

Did you cut the stock wiring? My best guess on this would be the dimmer wire is being shorted out.

You have both an illumination wire, and a dimmer wire.
The dimmer wire is often not used and it is in the smaller wiring harness along with the wires for the rear speakers.
