92 camry trans problem

Hi everyone,

I'm having problems with my camry. We just changed the timing belt and the car was running fine. Then a couple weeks later the car wouldn't shift into drive. It shifts into reverse and park, but after that nothing. I was thinking maybe it could be the transmission, but it was driving fine a couple days ago. Could it be something else? Maybe wiring or solenoid?

Thanks

Amy

The tranny only shifts into park and reverse. When I shift it to neutral, it's ok. But the problem is after that, it won't go into drive or 1 and 2. It's like stuck in neutral or something.

Will the stick physically select D/2/1? Does it feel right when shifted in D/2/1? Maybe you have a cable hanging up or something.

Well when shifting it doesn't even like it's shifting. When I put down it neutral and shift down again to drive and to L1 and 2, I don't feel anything shifting. Like it can only go up to neutral, then after that it doesn't shift anymore.

I can put the stick though to 1 and 2 and drive but the car doesn't feel like it's shifting and doesn't move. OH and about the cable? What do you mean it may be hung up?

Thanks
Amy
