Polk also makes the DB651S, where S stands for shallow mount.

According to Crutchfield.com, the DB651S will fit, but the DB651 will not.

I just ordered a pair of DB651S for one of my '95 Camrys, and expect them to come today.

Yea...I know the shallow mount would fit but the DB651 regular sized ones are on sale...so I'm just wondering if I could get away without the shallow fit.

So I can just drop and go with the non-Shallow fit models and it'll work without problems on my 96 Camry? Thanks for your info.

So...just want some opinions on anyone who's used them...and if they will fit on my 96 Camry without any modifications.

The speaker pods are pretty deep. You'll have no clearance problems with those speakers, or any speakers really.

Cool, thanks! So it'll fit in nicely without rubbing up against the window (when retracted) behind it?

I'll order 2 pairs of these for the front and back in that case...assuming the rear speakers are of the same dimensions/fittings.

ps: I was going to insert an immature joke in response to your comment, but I thought better.

Yes they should just drop-in without any trouble. Why don't you get some 6x9s for the rear instead of those 6.5s? Do you plan on running a sub?

I don't plan on running a sub...need the trunk space (and don't have the time now to mess with wiring up an amp). The 6x9s are a little too pricey for me at this point, so I'm trying to save some cash by just replacing all the stock speakers with these 6.5s... I'm sure the "bass" output from these are still far better than the stock speakers.

Or

I can wait for some nice 6x9s to go on sale and just pick up a pair of these for the front for now...

ps: It also seems like Polk audio's online vehicle fit guide recommends that I install 6.5s in the rear deck as well...
