3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have found it the most helpful place to go to get parts information.
Unfortunately Toyota didn't like it and partially shut it down.
No more diagrams now, just part numbers. Here's what they said.....

The diagrams are no longer available on this site. For reasons that are beyond our comprehension, Toyota of North America kept harrassing our ISP about them. It seems that they are really interested in quick profits from new car sales, so it is in their best interest that old cars fall apart asap.
The progress of course cannot be stopped, and the diagrams are available on numerous other websites around the world, so we feel this change will not have a significant negative impact on Toyota DIY-ers. For example google something like 78-01 ACCELERATOR LINK 78111C, and you shall find it.
Having such an easy way to obtain the correct part numbers for genuine parts has lead me to buy MORE from Toyota. By trying to restrict the use of these diagrams, they are losing money. If they are trying to get people to buy less parts so their cars die quicker, those people aren't going to come back to Toyota. Another great way to lose even bigger money.
Good job fuckers! ...is what I'd tell 'em.
You can still find the right numbers for what you need. It just takes a bit longer. And in my case, will lead me to buy less from them.

Now see that's just effing retarded, I loved that site!! Like haux said, the fact that that was up there sometimes actually motivated me to buy from the Toyota dealership rather than Autozone, dunno why they'd wanna take that site down

Gotta agree with ya, haux -- since I discovered toyodiy, I've ordered a lot more genuine Toyota repair parts, since I haven't had to waste an hour each time playing twenty questions with the parts counter guy.
RIP, toyodiy.com (for all practical purposes) -- the new parts listing is as completely useless as the stupid catalogs at the online dealerships.
I personally loved the site because I could buy all kinds of little crap ahead of time. Stuff I didn't even know I want to replace, basically. I got a package the other day consisting of about five separate orders from 1sttoyotaparts.com. I'd say about 40+ small bags of bolts, nuts, lamps, clips, screws, etc. I have no idea what most of it even goes to (forgot). When I get around to working on various things, I will thank myself for buying this stuff. There's no way in hell I'd feel comfortable standing at the parts counter at the dealership having the guy show me diagram after diagram to figure out what I needed... just to write down the numbers.
Keep in mind though that the diagrams are not gone. http://www.toyotapartszone.com/ has them. It's just a bit slower because you cannot actually click on the part numbers on the diagrams, you have to scroll through the list to find them. This slows down the process greatly, but it's doable.

definatly puts a damper on parts ordering. it was nice to be able to call the dealership with my part numbers rather than having to rely on them loking up the part and not understanding a thing i'm asking them to look up.

haux, thanks for the new site. I didn't even know about toyotapartszone. I checked it out and the diagrams are still there (for now at least). One thing I did notice is that you can click the parts numbers on the diagrams and it displays the part numbers and the names. There is also an option to "Select all part numbers" and you get 'em all. Just like ToyoDIY did. Sweeet.
I can't figure out why Toyota got thier panties in a bunch over this. Everybody that uses the site uses it for looking up parts for Toyota, duh.
And then when they have the correct Toyota part number and diagram they go where? To Autozone, no, they go to a Toyota parts counter, and buy Toyota parts, duh.
And since you have the part numbers and diagram, you don't have to waste time looking up the parts at the counter, so the parts department can be more efficient.
So now I can go to Toyotapartszone, and not only do I get the diagrams I want like before, I can order the parts from them as well. And since I was just in the dealer pricing a part yesterday and the dealer wanted $130.00 for it. I just checked and ToyotaPartsZone only wanted $68.00 for it, so my local dealer isn't gonna get the order now.
Sounds like a dumb corporate move on Toyota's part. But what do I know.

Just as much as they want you to know.

I noticed that yesterday too. For some reason it wasn't set up like that the other day... unless I was doing something wrong. Well, all the better! Don't forget to check 1sttoyotaparts.com for prices before buying. They seem to be a few dollars cheaper on everything.

damn toyodiy.com was the MAIN reason i started liking Toyota so much! god damn! what a bullshit, if not toyodiy.com I wouldn't spend ~$1,500 in repairs (DIY or shop) using original OEM parts !!!
what difference does it make for them when talking about 10 year old cars ??? freaking bastards, that's VERY stupid of them.
*them = Toyota Motor Corp USA
That's the worst news I've come across this year! I guess its the way Toyota says Merry Christmas to all DIY-ers.
R.I.P. toyodiy.com
I will miss ToyoDIY.com greatly, spend a lot of time on their site figuring out what parts are where and how they were mounted (bolts, gaskets, etc.) even without looking under the hood ...
have to say thanks about the other link though, if they still have diagrams, then not everything is lost.

you you can also give a shot to Toyotapartsoutlet.com . they actually come up cheaper than 1sttoyotaparts.com and are much quicker in shipment processing, shipment time depends on your geo location, for me (North East), is the best option now.

I've been there. When I select Toyota / Camry, the lowest year they have is 2001. They don't sell parts for 2000 and below?
Do they allow you to search by part number?
