Installed TRD Muffler today.

Bought this baby from trd4life. Thanks!

I expected the job to take about thirty minutes... turned into four hours.

We worked on the two nuts for a while. Sprayed PB Blaster, no luck. One nut was already destroyed/rounded. Nothing was going to take them off... except a $40 Black & Decker rotary tool with a cutting wheel. So we had to run out and buy one of those, then sawed the nuts off.

Removing the muffler from the rubber hangers was also a bit of a pain. Upon installing the new muffler, the larger exhaust tip did not fit with the original rear hanger, so I had to run out to AutoZone for a longer hanger. I'm thinking of this as a temporary fix, because it's a tad too long. I'd like to bring it closer to the bumper a bit.

It's also thinner than the original hanger. Any suggestions about where to get a wider one maybe 3/4" longer between the holes?

The muffler sounds much louder from inside than I expected. May be dude to lack of rear interior at the moment. I'll try to post a video of how it sounds within a few days.

can you just bend the metal arm of the hanger to raise up the muffler?

You know, that's what my dad suggested. It seems very permanent though. Much better to just get a new rubber hanger that fits well.

Did you have to wield the longer hanger to the exhaust?

Hm. I hope I'm using the proper terminology. By hanger, I'm referring to the rubber component. It attaches to a bar under the car, and then to the hanger bar on the muffler.

There's one for the front part of the muffler, and one for the rear. The rear is the one that was too short. I needed maybe 3/4" more space between the holes, so the muffler could hang a bit lower. But the one I got from AutoZone is quite longer than that. It's also narrower than the original rubber hanger, and because of that I think it offers less stability. So I'm hoping to find one that's the exact length I need and as wide as the original.
