Canada 1996 Camry trip counter goes CLIC CLIC CLIC and won't reset

The trip counter on my 1996 Camry is stuck in between digits and keeps going CLIC CLIC CLIC and won't reset when i push or turn the button. This is a minor problem that i can live with but i was wondering if anyone had had this happen and had an easy sollution other that taking apart the cluster.

hmm we have the same vehicle. except i have 218,000 miles, not km. anyway, i don't believe there is another solution to fixing that problem. taking apart the cluster isn't hard. you just gotta be careful when you try to take the plastic cover off cause the clips break easily. do one at a time.

got it moving again and the CLIC CLIC CLIC went away

That CLIC CLIC CLIC sound was driving me up the wall, so i put a screwdriver on the plunger and gave it a few light taps and the digits moved. i went for a drive and everything seems to be moving again (at least the first 2 digits for now) and the clic is gone. I hope that after a few 100 km everything will line up and work again.
