tire rant

so i just went and bought some new bridgestone blizzaks, took them for a drive to test them and wow. great tire. but, after about 10 miles i was turning around in a sub-division and one of my front tires went about 4 inches off the road into the snow. no biggie right?

wrong. there was a huge sharp rock under the snow and it took out the sidewall of the tire. back to the tire shop on monday to lay out 130 bucks.

Yeah, as long as everything else is all right.

The Blizzak has good reviews on TireRack. However, when Costco was selling Bridgestones I noticed how thin Bridgestone sidewalls were compared to Michelins. But I don't think any tire sidewall will survive a sharp rock.

Most places cover tread face only for the road hazard warranty. Not sidewalls. Here's Costco's:

Since when does one blizzak cost $130? With only 10 miles on the tires, I would just replace the bad one. On the warranty thing, Discount Tire warranties the whole tire.

i see, at Discount Tire/America's Tire you purchase a "Certificate for Repair, Refund or Replacement" and that should cover it (I think).
