Fan Problems

My heater / defroster fan works perfectly on the highest setting but doesn't work at all on any of the lower settings. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and what the fix is?

Thanks

1. REMOVE INSTRUMENT LOWER FINISH PANEL (under the steering wheel)
2. REMOVE BLOWER RESISTOR
(a) Disconnect the connector from the resistor.
(b) Remove the 2 screws and the resistor.

Sounds easy enough. Looks like its located up under on the right side. Once you have the replacement then you will know what your looking for.

So the panel is on the driver's side. Is there any trick to removing them or special techniques?

No its easy. From what I can recall just 4 bolts and 2 screws. I even had a sticker on the bottom of my steering wheel of a diagram showing where the bolts are at. Pull the coin tray out (left side under the dimmer) just like you would to get to the fuse panel. Then you should see one screw holding on a black panel that goes around the fuse panel. Remove that. Then you should see another screw behind it you will need to remove. Remove the 4 bolts (one or two of them have covers that easily remove with a flat head) and it should come right off.
