3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am looking to buy some visual mods for my 98.
there arent really many visuals for the 98 unfortunately.
Then again, I know you all are extremely good at finding things so if you know of anything that you think would look good; It would be greatly appreciated if you could post links or at least some info about it. Make sure its for 97-99, as most of you know, they are different than 00-01 in little but still important ways.. Unfortunately..
But thanks for all and any input!!
Also, if you know of any performance mods that make a big difference that you could recommend, please do.
(2.2 5S-FE)
Eh, performance-wise, the 5s-FE is relatively easy & cheap to Turbo (considering part interchangeability with mr2/celica motors)
especially compared with the V6 camry's Aftermarket hates the 3VZ's & 1MZ's lol
Looks-wise?
Rims.
Black-out your tails/corners
lower it (real lowering springs; cut springs are for tools)
Tint windows
and maybe get a lip-kit & spoiler (No EVO kits or 747 wings, just to be clear )

Need performance parts?
Shoot me a PM, I'll see what I can do
theres not much avalible for thoes years. no direct fit parts anyways. just body kits, spoilers, hoods and a few others. the 00-01 lihgts would require some modding or a front end swap.
best bet things to do are a drop which will improve handling too, removing enblems, wheels, tint and if you can find one...a trd lip kit.
for performance its not worth it, stick to intake...maby a muffler. the intake alone sounds great so id just leave it at that.
What all do you need to swap for a front end swap?
Headlights and park lights. You can trim your existing front bumper to make them fit. Also don't forget you need to splice the wiring from one bulb to two, in the headlight. It's not that hard. I have never done it, but it seems rather simple. I think that should be it.
On the cheap, you can make your tails solid red with craft window spray or you can amber your front park lamps. Clear corners are a good addition to freshen up the front end.

that wouldnt really be swapping, thats modifying whats there and id advise against it unless you have the tools and patience. in which case its pretty easy and this may help.
if you actually swap the front end(the proper way) youd need the bumper, grill, rad support headlights and corners as well as the the wiring to conver to a 2 bulb system.
Id have to say shave off the emblems. Tint. Deff rims. Drop it! Rear sway bar! Best mod for the money, handling wise. Strut tower brace up front. System clear markers. You can make a custom cold air intake like the 3rd gens relatively easily. Take off the drivers side front wheel take off the inner fender well liner. Dismantle the Bong of intake Pipes. Then run a flexible tube from the stock air box, out to the inside of the front bumper. Makes it sound so much better even without an exhaust. Hit me up if you need more info. Cant wait to see some progress.
personally id just stick with an SRI. the CAI will net nothing more then the SRI will(nothing anyways) and will be alot more work. the only thing it provides is slightly cooler air at higher RPMs but it hurts lower RPM response. Best of both worlds is to do what ASG14 did by using his stock airbox as a cold air plenum but thats even more work.
