flex pipe????

Hi all

My 97 Camry leaks again.. At central exhaust pipe, closed to the end.



I am thinking about to use the flex pipe (which sold in Canadiantire) to fix it. Any idea?

The pipe looks like this one.

The pipe + labor cost me $200.. The flex pipe only $20... Wonder any one tried flex pipe before?

I've used the braided type flex pipe. Works fine.
You can find it at most auto stores with or without flanges and in different diameters.

Flex pipe works OK as a stopgap. Heck, in a pinch I've used a tin can and a couple of hose clamps.

Usually, 'tho, if the pipe is rotted out in one area, it's pretty thin in a lot of other areas, so might want to budget for eventual replacement.

well, sounds right, but my camry is already 340k.

2.5 INCH?

braided flex section welded in is the more practical repair, the exhaust moves longitudinally as well with the engine
