3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So we're getting a bit of a snow storm/blizzard in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This might be nothing up in Chicago, as they clear the roads thoroughly and people are prepared with snow tires yearly. Here, on the other hand, I didn't see a single plow on the roads... only in the parking lots of private businesses.
Anyway, I wanted to buy some more Taquitos. So I ran out to the Super Target down the road. All was well at first. Couldn't really drive more than 15-18mph without drifting, but that's ok. Saw a few stuck cars on the way. Eh, that won't happen to me! My tires are at their peak of performance! ...with 40-50,000 miles on 'em.
Luckily the shelves are stocked up to the ceilings, since most people don't care to come out in these conditions. I buy the goods, I start heading back. This road happens to be one of the busiest in the city. And about half-way, I come across a section with about four stuck vehicles all scattered around. Aw crap! Now I have to stop.
Yeah... and now I'm stuck. At this point the entire road is blocked. Four+ cars, including me, trying everything to get moving again. After what seemed like ten minutes... I shift into L and floor it (almost). Magically, I start spinning through the snow, but I'm moving! Didn't hit any red lights on the way back so all was well. Until I tried to pull into a parking spot at my apartment. Dead end right there. Tore up the snow big time, down to the ice. A neighbor was out for some reason and helped push me in as much as possible. So, I'm taking up two spots, but I'm not blocking anyone!
I love these adventures.
I'm going for a walk tonight.

Isn't snow driving fun? I especially like when the damn car wont turn tight enough in parking lots, so I give the ebrake a yank to bring the rear around.
I drove my friends father-in-law's '07 wrx sti pretty hard about a month ago. i was very impressed. i just wish Ford made these available in the USA. They'd be perfect snow cars

we got a couple inches ... drifts like to 6 inches in places... but yesterday the temperature was in the 70's and today started with rain so none of it stuck to the roads. maybe a couple bridges but there are no fun parking lots. i already looked

Yeah, I love bad weather until it interferes with something else you've got going on.

Eh, yeah. I guess it was 4-8 inches around here according to this thing I just read. I'd say more like 8+. With drifts of 2-3 feet in some areas? Haven't quite seen THAT yet.
