3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
my car is up for inspection in january....and last time i took it (2 years ago) it was all stock....and i passed....but now even with all the stuff done to it iam worried i will fail b/c of my intake.....will i have to put my stock one back on just to go get it inspected....
has anyone in NJ passed with an aftermarket intake?????
When I lived in jersey, my paseo went through twice with my WEPR intake. The ppl didn't geive me any crap about. But I'd say it depends on where you go. So long as you don't have a CEL and the car is tuned up, you shouldn't have any problems IMHO. What year? How many miles?

yea...i have a weapon r....its a 92 and i just hit 90 k
So you've got OBD1. Make sure you've got new plugs, cap, rotor, and wires before you go unless these were replaced recently. I'm pretty sure WEPR has some of their intakes C.A.R.B certified. If the inspection facility gives you any crap, tell them its certified.
Is the above link the intake you have? According to their site, the secret weapon intake for the Camry 2.2L isn't certified. If they give you a hard time, just tell them its certified. You might be able to get away with it. Since its a 92, they'll be putting it on the emissions dyno. The intake shouldn't affect your numbers so long as the car is properly tuned and ignition system maintenance is up to date. Good luck.

Hopefully, like Crowbar said, they don't open the hood. I always went to the one in Flemington and they opened the hood on my cars every time. It probably depends on the site. Hopefully the person inspecting your car is feeling rather lazy and wants to get you through as quick as possible! Best of luck to ya!

Anything they consider "obstruction of view" i.e. fuzzy dice in the mirror, flag on the window or even aftermarket fog lights will get you a fail. My Paseo failed for aftermarket pedal covers and fog lights. Just had to take them off and they passed it. They didn't say anything about my intake.
