This touches on an issue little understood by many. If you want to preserve the RIDE of the car (evn somewhat), then DON'T decrease the aspect ratio of your tires much.....as well as stay away from increasing the weight of each wheel/ tyre assembly much. In a practical sense, this means NO "plus 2", "plus 3", etc. conversions. 14" to 19" is ridiculous.....though I am sure that it is "cool" to some. If you care only about handling and looks - that is a different story. But, "plus 1" is about the farthest one should go, if ride is at all important. And incidently, preserving some of the ride will also pay off in the longevity of the suspension. Drastically larger diameters, which ALWAYS add a good deal of weight.....will ALWAYS greatly increase wear and tear on the suspension, leading to the necessity of spending $$ on new struts and bushings A LOT more often than normal. As to "improved cornering"......with a huge increase in wheel/ tyre diameter, eventhough the tyres will have a much lower aspect ratio..... cornering will only improve on SMOOTH surfaces. Greatly increasing unsprung weight at each corner will only lead to hopping and loss of grip on bumpy roads (most of the public roads, after all). Remember, a suspension system is just that - a SYSTEM. This includes the wheels and tyres. If you want to drastically change ONE item....you'll need to re-work the ENTIRE system to suit.
Just because they might fit......or could be made to fit.....does NOT mean that it is a good idea. Just as jumping off a bridge, just because your idiot friend did it, doesn't necessarily make for a good idea. THINK it through, before acting.
