Door issues

Hey guys, been having a few issues with my car (starting on the way home from a pretty crappy new year's party... foreshadowing? lol)

1st, she threw a CEL last night while I was going down the highway. I'm going to presume that this is from some emissions system, as my car WAS running a straight pipe up until thursday, and at that point I did a ghetto-DIY with some chimney piping to keep her quiet (flex pipe... dissapeared).

Other issue(s) seem to be related; one is my "Door Ajar" light, which is now consistently on (noticed earlier today), even when all doors are shut. it just gets brighter when a door is opened.

Two is my power door-locks, which seem to have gone crazy; my car started randomly locking and unlocking itself earlier when I tried to lock from the outside (also happened when I hit the rear-defrost button), and my inside switch (driver-side) was only able to stop it when I hit lock. However, when it was unlocked, and just sitting, pushing "lock" wouldn't do anything. The reason I believe them to be related is that, while in a parking lot, I hit unlock, and the "door Ajar" lamp went out for about 1/2 a second. Hoping that this is due to the cold and the fact that the valet left the sunroof cracked open thursday night (), so I plan on leaving her in the garage for next day or two. In case it ISN'T an issue of moisture/condensation freezing somewhere, any suggestions as to what might be the cause?

I'd try taking apart the door so you can get at all the harness connections and clean them off with some compressed air crap for your pc. ive had that happen to me in a pontiac bonneville a long time ago. if you drive down gravel a lot thats more likely to happen.my friends 97 camry ce does that now.

My first guess is that it's got some wires broken in the service loop at the driver's door hinge. There's a bundle of a dozen-or-so inside a rubber accordian-like bellows going from the door to the door jamb. The tricky part is that sometimes the copper inside is broken, but not the insulation; makes the breaks hard to find.

This is a fairly common problem, that's why it's my first suspect.

K, 24 hours later, car is in the garage and relatively warm. issue seems to have gone away, will probably test it on monday (i.e. take her outside). I find it weird that the locks would act up as they did though; presuming some moisture froze in the switch
