Help! I broke a plug on my wiring harness that goes to my coolant temperature sending unit on my 94 camry 4cyl auto. Toyota will sell me a whole new wiring harness for $$$$$$$$. Is there anyplace I can buy just a plug?

The Gen3 manual doesn't appear to list part numbers. However, you can probably use the Gen4 manual to find a connector that looks identical. Then the bottom of that manual lists their part numbers.
Keep in mind that these connectors do not come with wires. camrystuff.com, in the Gen3 section, also has a wiring harness repair manual. Should be some helpful information there.
Based on what I've ordered recently, the connectors vary from $2-7 each. The dealerships don't want their time "wasted" with locating connectors for customers. And they'd much rather you just buy a harness from them and let them install it for you while you're at it. Once you find the right part number for what you need, you CAN order it through your local dealer and thank them for lying to you.

I just had the same problem..Mouse chewed thru my crank sensor wire on my 98 Camry V6... Went to the local dealership parts here, and the parts guy was able to get me the wire itself that goes into the plastic connector, and can also get the plastic connector itself if needed...Seems its the dealers way of a repair shortcut if the damage the wiring harness..If you cant find anything let me know what it is and maby I can find it at my dealership for you..
The wires are just regular wires as far as I know. Finding a parts guy that will actually help you and be honest is not common. Most will just do what the OP said his parts guy did... and that's tell you that you can't buy the connectors and have to buy the whole harness.
murphymp, post back and let us know if you were able to resolve the issue. If you have trouble with the information I provided, I'm sure someone will be willing to look up the information for you.

I went to the dealership in person with a picture from under the hood showing my water temperature sensor. After standing there about 20 minutes (with my two year old desperate to play with the display of brake cleaner), the parts guy said he couldn't figure out the part number. He found a diagram of the connector and could tell me the wire was green with yellow stripes, but no part number! $#@!$#
So, came back home and looked through the Gen 4 stuff (thanks Haux) since gen 3 docs don't include part numbers. The part listed for the water temp sender is 90980-11428.
I also found the following:http://94supraturbos.synthasite.com/...s%20Repair.pdf
This actually provides pictures of the wiring harnesses connectors.
Then, on a tip from another forum, I then went back and looked at the connector and lo and behold, 11428 is stamped on it!
So everyone, if you need to find a replacement connector, the part number may very well be actually on the connector. Save yourself a lot of time and aggravation and check there first.
The part is about $5 online which means $10-12 at the local stealer.

I just learned that yesterday.
I'm glad you figured it out. I'm also surprised the parts guy even tried to find it for you. He was probably just pretend-finding... actually playing Solitaire or something.
There's such a thing as brake cleaner? Is that for brake *pads* or just calipers?

Thats great.....I got lucky at my dealer, the guy knew off the top of his head, found and it was free...Couldnt believe that.....
Do you buy stuff from there a lot?
I find that if you're a frequent customer they'll give you cheap stuff for free.
I've bought a few hundred dollars worth of stuff from my local dealer over the past three months. I've gotten free things like key copies, remote control battery, carpet hooks...

You guys have great dealers. My local dealer sux. Just last month, I had to prepay for them to order me a distributor o-ring and cap gasket. It was for only $8!!! They actually charge higher than list price than the online toyota parts dealers discount from. For example, toyotapart.com may have list price for a part at $5 and sell it for $3.5. My local stealer will charge $6 for the same thing.
I only buy little stuff there. Anything that costs more than about $20 bucks is cheaper ordered even with shipping fees.

My local dealership is the same about the pricing. They charge much higher than MSRP. Usually, if you ask for a better deal, they will give you one. The better deal being actual MSRP, not lower. A $200 item at the local dealer may cost $140 online.
The thing I said about my local dealer giving me some free stuff... it's only because I've bought *so much* in such a short period of time. If this was spaced over several years they'd never remember me. Or if it was my first time buying something... I'd get no special treatment. One parts guy made a joke saying he sees me more than some of their employees. Well, he did at least. I don't go there much anymore after finding out about the dealerships with website that charge much less.
