I'm trying to identify the wire below. Based on the pics I've seen on this site, it looks like its bolted on with the thing on the left, which is connected to an oxygen sensor.
The second pic shows the other end of the wire. It's one of two wires above the airbox. It is connected to a bolt. The MAP sensor is on the left.
I don't think so, regardless that grounding wire DOES ground something! Attach it to the small bolt on the side of that hook, pretty much where it is sitting right now is where it goes.
Ok, thanks. That's what I thought. So the O2 wire is suppose to be connected/bolted with the ground wire or else the O2 sensor won't work, right?
It looks like that connection is just to generally ground the engine (to give any sensors mounted on the engine a good ground reference). Hard to tell from your second picture, but I assume the wire is bonded to the "frame" metal. Not specifically related to the O2 sensor, but to any sensor mounted on the engine. I ass-u-me that the wire just connects up to that bolt right below the engine hanger (the big hook).
BTW, nick-picking, but sensor to the left of the wire in the second picture ain't the MAP sensor, it's the intake air temp sensor. The MAP is up on the firewall connected to the intake plenum (usually through a little filter).
New here and I have a quick question. In the above pic, what is the part that is right above the rad hose ?....has (2) vacume lines attached and is blue. Lines do not pull any vacume that i can tell. Anyway mine is broke. I have severe stumbling and dieing issue. Hard to start when warmed 93 4cyl.

It is a "Ported Vacuum Switch"...does something or another to your idle when engine is cold versus when it warms up...
As I recall, it makes your idle a little high with it by-passed...but don't quote me on that!
Here is a picture, if we are talking the same item!

And here is the listing on amazon....
BUT... when I bought thru amazon a year ago,... the item was sold & shipped from "cerell dist." and even with shipping it came to only $32.48... Now amazon wants $48 for the same item!!! (but free shipping!)
Oh yea...Amazon's picture is B&W...but it has the correct part # & a reviewer said it is blue....

And for the OP's question....I'll try to post a few pics of where the wire goes....
(UMMMM....maybe I'm not allowed to post pics yet?)
Anyway, the bracket with the wire from the front Oxy sensor is supposed to bolt to the engine hook where that small threaded hole is...and that is where the wire you are wondering about bolts to!
(like someone already said!)
If I can get some pictures uploaded...it would make more sense!
Thanks for the pics, Rall. I didn't bother trying to put it back together since it wasn't a big deal. Car runs fine, but it has a lot of little problems that don't make it worth driving. It's been sitting for a few months. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it.

No problem....you know what they say about pictures!
Sounds like you really don't need the car....they are pretty popular, I'd just put it on Craigs list or whatevers available and let someone else enjoy sorting thru it!!!!
Thanks for the reply. Now about the sputtering and dieing issue?? Temp sensor failure??
NH
Sorry NiteHawk.... I don't know about the dying issue, but it ...might... be related to the broken switch...I am GUESSING!
(I don't think even the people who really know their stuff on here can answer that Q without more info....and I'm not any kind of expert, ...so maybe you could start a new thread?)
...BUT I would at least fix the vacuum switch first, ...before I started scratching my head over other issues!!!!
.....Oh yea...while I was waiting to find a re-placement for my daughter's car....I just placed a hollow tube between those two hoses that hook to the vacuum switch & bypassed it until I could get the replacement.
The only result of bypassing the vacuum switch seemed to be a faster idle speed...but I'm sure it also affected the idle mixture or timing, or whatever it is designed to regulate as the engine warms up!
YMMV
....And Dustoff....Sorry about jumping in YOUR thread to answer someone else!... ...it kinda fit at the time...
....and I knew the answer to the vacuum switch Q,... cause I spent hours last year finding out what that part was, myself!!!
Again, Sorry!
