3rd Generation Does anyone know what this part of upper radiator hose is?

Does anybody know anything about this hose which has the red circle around it? It's connected to the upper radiator hose on the engine block side.

It sprung a small pinhole leak and I'm looking to replace it. I looked on a parts diagram but couldn't determine which hose it was. Thanks.

That's a heater hose. Goes back to the firewall, in the middle.

Haha, that hose really isn't too hard. Just the clamps that will get you. I recommend replacing them with easier, screw type ones.

Technically, I think that's just one of the coolant bypass hoses (routes over to the oil cooler), although if replacing with generic I'm pretty sure just a piece of heater hose would do the trick.

If you want to order OEM, I believe that's "Hose, Water By-Pass", part number 16261-74010...looks to be about $10 list.

Ah yes. You are correct. I thought it was going somewhere else, didn't see the A/C lines at first!

I had that hose burst a few months ago, just weeks after replacing the coolant (Doh!)

The hose looked good from the outside, but was deeply cracked inside. Its position down-wind from the exhaust manifold, providing coolant to the hot oil filter, and the sharp bend that spread the reinforcement fibers all contributed to its failure.

It's a simple elbow hose. I think that the local Kragen charged $8+ for a generic replacement that needed to be trimmed, but when you need it...

I believe that the replacement was
Elbow hose, Gates GAT20338 4.9"x0.61"
It would have been about the same price for a Toyota hose from a dealer that charges list or less, but the local Oakland dealer often charges well above list price.
16261-74010 Lower bypass hose, $9.39/$7.51
