Hey all, I am still new to this thing, I am more used to my old 89 wagon, god I miss that thing. Anyways I just got my 98 here at the house and have the ablity now to work on it, and I was going to start with putting my new radio in, I got the standard 2 plug harness adapter for toyota and then I went and pulled the factory radio out, its a cassette radio with a separate cd-player attached to it, but it uses some single plug connection. my questions to you guys, this car has tweeters in the doors and I was gonna replace them with my own component set but now I am stuck as I don't know what I need to do with this stock harness. is there an another aftermarket harness I can use with it? is there a possiblity this has a factory amp? there is no JBL branding anywhere in the car that I have been able to see.
Radio is the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X693
Front Speakers Infinity Reference series 5010cs
Rear Speakers Infinity Kappa 693.7i

forgot to add to this, there are what looks like 2 antenna connections on the factory radio as well, and they both uses, one is std sized but the other is really small, any ideas on this one guys?

If it has the amp, find the connector for it and unplug it. That connector will then fit the adapter you bought.
I just did this on my 97 LE and when I first saw the single connector, I was confused as well. Then I saw the amp connectors kinda shoved to the back right near the passenger airbag.
I saw the two antenna wires as well. Use the standard sized one. No idea what the smaller one is for... but the standard size works!
cool, thanks for the info, and is that your gray cam sitting in a leaf pile? it looks so... forlorn.

you wouldn't still happen to have the bulb holder for the front turn signals would ya? if you saw mine in the other thread you would have noticed a distinct lack of them on mine, I just got a new set of lenses and when I went to put them on I noticed that one holder is gone.

that I don't know, all I know is I am missing the little plug the light bulb plugs in to, then that clips in to the lens. Oh the radio thing worked like a champ, there was a big harness in 2 parts attached to the side of the airbag, I just popped it off and then disconnected the wires and hooked up my bracket, and now it works great, now I just have to put my speakers in as the front doors don't seem to output anything but the tweeters. and the rears are blown... oh well they are ten years old.

does anyone know what the smaller antenna wire is for? I just installed a new headunit in my 98 camry and im not sure what the small antenna wire is for so i left it hanging. Im thinking its for my keyless entry? it still works but i need to be kinda close to the car (although even with the stock radio i needed to be pretty close) anybody know? thanks
I found either at Walmart or Best Buy a wire that has two plugs on one end where you put both the big and small antenna in, and then the other end you plug in the back of the radio.
I think it was made for a nissan, but it looked like it should work for any car.
