D Drive light busted

I am annoyed because the D drive on the speedometer doesnt turn on when the gear is on D. The rest of the gears are ok except for D. Could this be replaced? and if yes, is it hard to do?

All of the gauge cluster bulbs can be replaced. The black frame pries out, with two screws up top. Then four more screws for the cluster itself.

Easy fix. See the DIY for this at DIY: Gen 3 "D" Bulb replacement .

Matter of fact, take a look at the rest of the DIY threads at Camry FAQ ------> READ FIRST -----> Comprehensive List of Gen 3/4 INFO and DIY -- lots of good stuff there.

Grab 11 or 12 of those bulbs and just replace them all at once. I replaced my D bulb and had it all back together and then my back lit bulb burned out. Then my O/D light. I think those things get old and brittle and when breaks them when your tearing into stuff.

Or you can take the quick approach of just swapping the never-used '1' lamp in place of 'D'.

Note that this doesn't fix the problem where slightly moving the gear selection lever causes the 'D' light to go on.

Mine was off for years and for some strange reason started working a few months ago, however dimmer than the rest.

That's what I did! But since I have been driving so long without the "D" light I don't like having it on now haha

Dude, just swap in the 5 speed. Then you don't have to worry about those lights!

In keeping with your "murdered out" theme, you should pull all of your lights. Now that's black-on-black, baby!

i wear glasses my winsheild is scratched to hell and my headlights are stuk down and out (driveing at nite is tricky) and i find the darker the instrument pannel the better/less distracting for my eyes if the high beam light and dummy lights were hooked up to the dimmer switch i would be even happier the "D" light is a bounus not having to look at it

plus i allways thought that was norman?
