change front struts

I am going to change the front struts, but my current sockets are all too small to fit the lower nuts on the struts. Does any body know the actual nut size? My car is 1999 camry V6.

Thanks!

22mm on my 2000 I4. They're also 22 for a 2000 v6.

This set was recently on sale for $20:

Sounds like you may not be using the right size tools. On 3/8" still?

Don't use 3/8" with extension on suspension/tire work, because the extension will flex and you won't get the correct torque on the nuts. And if you need to torque anything over 80 lb/ft you'll risk breaking the tools and hurting yourself.

The HF 1/2" torque wrench is great for wheel lug nuts. But slightly under for suspension work. You should get one if don't have one already.

Or a pipe that can fit over your socket wrench.

as others have said, the fronts are 22 - on gen3, 4 and 5. and g1 solara.

22mm or 7/8" as someone else mentioned. 7/8 is one of the few 'inch' sizes that is close enough to be substituted for metric without much risk of damaging/rounding a fastener.

I have finished the struts change. The actual nut size is 22mm, also the 7/8'' socket works fine.
The only thing I want to mention is that you need to be very careful when you are taking off the old struts, it is very easy to scratch the brake fluid hose and speed sensor cable. It is better to have another person to help you.
I used the Monroe Quick Struts, and bought from the RockAuto. It looks pretty good but the ride quality is not as good as I expected. You can feel it is hard and bumpy when the road paving is not perfect, definetely it can not compare with the original ones. My rear struts was changed with KYB brand 2 years ago, I feel they are much better than the Monroe struts.
Anyway the car is already near 300,000km, even the engine and transmission still work like new, but I am not expecting to keep the car forever.

Thanks for all your replies and help.
