digital climate control

I have been wondering for a while now as to if i could take the digital climate control from a 92-96 es300 and put it in my 93 camry. I keep wanting to say its not just a plug and play type of situation. Does anyone know?

hmm

Well I am certain it is not a plug-n-play situation. The system will have at least one separate module to interpret settings. May even be tied into the BCM (body control module) on that application.

I was wanting to do the same thing. Take a digital control unit from a 2000 XLE and put it in my 2000 LE. The biggest problem with mine is the temperature control knob. It controls the temp by a cable. The digital unit clearly doesn't.

I wish I could make it work though. Seems like it would be effing awesome.

Yeah i think thats one of my biggest issues with that swap. My temp is also a knob. O well i can imagine.

I would see the only way possible (get a shop manual), is taking apart your dash, and find out where the cable goes, then get a junk yard 2000 XLE, and get all the parts necessary. Because of course the Air Conditioning/Heating elements are the same across the board. But a piece by piece comparison would be necessary if your willing to do it.

I already know where the cable goes. You can get to it without taking the dash out. It pulls some thingy... I don't know what any of it is called. But yeah, taking out the dash would be necessary for the actual swap. So much work.

Yeah, I've ripped apart my dash before when I had a couple of wiring issues, when my car was stripped.

Yeah, the cable controls the mix in the cabin, & directs either heat from the heating core, or outside air or of course A/C.

It shouldnt be too hard, the cable is probably replaced by an electric motor where the air is either diverted to the heating core or A/C.

i've done a xle 4cyl / v6 le swap and i had to add one wire and swith two to get the plugs to work. but the car i was putting the v6 into was a xle so the car already had the motors and solenoids in it. you would need alot to make it work...correctly.
