I have been working on this engine a little at a time over the winter. It is much nicer to have it on a stand so I figured I would go balls to the wall and do a full restoration. There is really too much to list but I will try. The bottom end got new crank and rod bearings. All new bottom end seals, rear main, front crank seal, oil pump seals, etc etc. Basically rebuilt the whole bottom end besides rings. I removed the balance shaft assembly and blocked off the oil passage to free up some HP and boost oil pressure. New timing belt kit including tensioner and idler. New frost plugs pounded in. The head went to the shop for milling and crack check and then I spent a number of hours doing a mild port and polish to open up any air flow restrictions. Replaced valve stem seals. New head gasket of course. The alternator was rebuilt with a new reg, the case was blasted and a few parts got fresh paint. All sensors are new, new dist cap and rotor, etc. All small parts were blasted, primed and painted. Basically if it was not new it was primed and painted. This is the third valve cover I have polished. The ridges on the top side were ground flat and the whole thing was hit with scotch-brite pads on an air grinder, several stages of sand paper on a DA, 3 stages of clay bar on the air grinder and finally Mothers mag polish. The intake got the same treatment. I posted a pic below of the engine bay before the restoration just so you can see the polished intake. I will post more pics when I get the intake bolted onto the engine on the stand.
Anyway I am sure ther is more that I am forgetting but you get the point.

Here is a pic before the restoration so you can see what the intake looks like polished.
