Question Has anyone ever had an A/C compressor for his Camry replaced? What did it cost?

I have a 98 Camry whose compressor has seized. If the work is an arm and a leg, I might end up trying to replace it myself. I do know that a remanufactured compressor and clutch alone is $250.

I'm not sure whether the one on the right (10PA15L w/5groove clutch)
will fit your Camry. http://www.acsource.com/toyota_1.aspx

Good source for A/C parts, etc. as well if you can rebuild. I repaired my Mitsubishi compressor with a new shaft seal for about $20.

That's fantastic, i'm amazed you were able to find parts!

THe compressor is bolt and unbolt so you may want to consider changing it yourself. If you have it done the labor won't be cheap. However you will probably have to have it recharged by a shop - (i know they sell those cans of refrigerant at walmart and this would save money if you could use them, but i don't know if they would work for a full recharge.)
