High mounted brake light. Would it look weird?

Would it look weird to have both a "high mounted" brake light for the rear window, AND an LED strip for the spoiler... at the same time?

Another question, slightly related. Is it poor practice to splice two different gauges of wire together?

I'd say whatever floats your boat. I have the high mounted brake light with brake light spoiler and I added a roof line brake light too. It's excessive, but I was bored and felt like doing it and like it.
Eventually I want to get some carpet to match the rear deck so I can remove the OEM high mounted brake light and just have the roof line brake light.

As for the wire splicing of different gauges, I say it is okay. But I would make sure to use a gauge appropriate for the electrical component your connecting to. I also avoid splicing in a larger gauge wire into a small gauge source wire.

I think that all spoilers for the camry were dealer mounted (not from factory, like solara).

If you take out the rear package shelf stop light, you are left with a hole in the trim and carpeting, so it was left in place.

Splicing the LED strip to the high mount or any rear stop lamp would not over load the electrical system, that strip probably doesn't take more than 300 mAh to operate.

personally i dont like 2 high mount tails. it looks like ya added a spoiler and were too lazy to remove or turn off the other brake light, which is pretty easy.

my car came with a spoiler and when i took the OEM one off i just mounted the spoiler light to the headliner at the top of the rear window. looks pretty cool.
