PCV Test

I bought a new Napa (made in USA) PCV. I pulled the old one off and it was made in USA too but it is a different color.
I always test the new PCV before installation. It rattles and I can suck air through it but when I blow air through it, it leaks. The old one leaks but it very minor.
This is my first plastic PCV, the steel ones on the Toy Trucks don't leak air, they lock up solid.

Is the new valve bad or is it ok for new valve to leak?

The leakage is metered. You'll have less air passing through at idle than at full throttle. It's also possible that the old one isn't passing as much as it should. But hard to tell.

What I do is get the PCV valve from the catalog. Get a new grommet, and just replace them both. Been using Fram on different cars and they're fine. (Don't like their oil filters however).
