Loose Small Screw Fuel Pressure Regulator

I took off the plastic cover on the fuel pressure regulator and found a small loose screw under the cap. It screws into the regulator.
Is this screw need to be in the regulator? How tight? What is it for?

I found the same problem when I was replacing the valve cover gaskets on my son's car. It is a 2000 solara V6 with 190,000 miles. I just put the screw back in and tighten it slightly. I think it is just a mouting screw, but I can't say for sure.
