Valve Cover Washer Mod. How Tight?

I am replacing the valve cover seal and found the washer mod.(where you add two washers to the valve cover bolt) What do I torque the bolts down to? 96 1MZ-FE.
I found 69 in/lbs for stock set up and wounder if with the washer mod, I would need more or less torque?

WHen I torque the bolts without the washer mod, the bolt bottoms out. With two washers and torquing to 69 in/lbs,
the gasket is squished down and the gap between the cover and head is half of what it is with out the washers.

same torque should do

and yes, they bottom out, but they were also designed to do that....just because a gasket is more squished down, it doesn't mean that the seal is any better.

but either way, be careful when torquing them down regardless, as the valve cover bolts are aluminum and snap easily
