Factory alarm? That'a made by Fujitsu-ten. They'll pulled their faxback service otherwise you can get all kinds of wiring info from them.

So I'm not sure if you were to simply pull the control box (slightly larger than a deck of card) from under the driver side console if it would temporaily solve the problem until you can get it diagnosed. Not sure if the reset button on it will do it either.

I would just disconnect it...

They don't really do much anyway. A determined thief will keep jackin' your shit even with the horn blaring.

He'll be in and out before cops or anyone shows up.

The factory alarm is pretty beneficial. I don't know if the 97's is anything like mine, but mine is effing LOUD. Annoyingly loud... not like those sissy aftermarket alarms a lot of people have.

A few years ago in Wichita, at a Motel 6, I had a large box in my back seat. Electronics item. Some douche broke my front passenger side window and opened the door... alarm went off, and being loud as hell, probably scared him off... because nothing was taken.

I actually heard the alarm in the middle of the night but for some reason I didn't think it sounded like mine.

Check the battery. Sometimes alarms and stereos doing unusual crap like that can be the first sign of a worn battery. Even if the car starts just fine. Check the door triggers. One could be cracked and grounding out.

+1 one on the door switch. Those switches are directly responsible for telling the alarm when to set. You can check them by pressing the rubber boot on the switch and watching your dome light. Wiggle the switch side to side/up and down as well. Any intermittent contact in the switch will make the light flicker or go out. Check all 4 doors.

Seeeeeeeee, that's what I'm talking about. If you're in a parking lot, you'll hear the alarm but probably won't run over to your car thinking it's yours. You're more likely to think damn, someone should shut that shit up. Which the thief will definitely do with some help from wire snips!

I just find it more annoying than anything, especially when they start fucking up.
