3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I don't know if you guys remember, but at the end of 2006, my mom's car got keyed at work. It got keyed AGAIN today.. She didn't notice it when she left work since she was in a rush, but when she got home I noticed it.
It's REALLY deep . I called the police and filed a report so we can run it through insurance. It's down to the metal and then some! Gotta have the hood repainted otherwise it's just going to turn into a giant rust spot.
Sigh.. The last time, the two cars next to her got keyed too - she has to ask them again (she was parked next to those same people today by chance) to see if their cars got keyed. If not, I'm beginning to wonder if it's something personal but she keeps to herself at work and her car is 15 years old!
Anyway, I filed a claim with the insurance company so hopefully they'll call tomorrow. People who key cars should burn in hell!

There's cameras in the parking lot but not many and their security isn't very helpful. Anyway, my mom's deductible is $100 (mine is $250) and she has rental car reimbursement coverage so she'll be taken care of for the most part. Sucks though!

Sorry to hear that. Hope there are no hassles in getting the car fixed.
I hope I never catch anyone doing this, or messing with someone's car in any way. If I ever do I will probably be spending some time in prison
There is no excuse to vandalize some one's car. I, I, I hate those bast*rds. I have nothing else to say.

VTEC It's like waiting for really bad sex.
Good news, her insurance company called back and all we have to do is drop off the car at the shop up the street (they pair with all the major insurance companies) where a rental car will be waiting. Just gotta pay the $100 deductible. They might even fix the previous damage on the doors when it was keyed last time.
I dunno if I'd wanna catch them in the act cause yeah, anger might take over and I might end up running them over and landing myself in jail. Ha ha! BTW I loved that clip from Pulp Fiction. I completely agree. People like this are so chicken sh*t!
As far as it being personal, I dunno.. She doesn't oversee anybody, though she does work with the higher ups in the dept but she knows them well. So it wasn't them, but not much opportunity to piss anyone else off. The parking structure's security said that a truck was keyed last week. Maybe it's just some a**hat screwing around with the cars there. Well.. At least the car will be fixed soon. It's 15 years old and my mom would happily drive it until she's too old to drive, if the car will last that long . She loves her Camry, it looks/drives like new and she hasn't had a car payment since 1999!

Co-workers can be pretty Vicious, especially if she's in a management position.
yes very true. where i work at this guy drives a mustang, i recently got my 97 camry. i got sound system n hids on it. he be hating for no reason. always talking about camrys. -.-
few weeks ago i saw him lookin inside my car from outside the window, i think he wants a camry
That looks to me to be the work of two individuals. There are two marks, starting at 2 diff places and it looks like two different intensities. My guess would be some rowdy neighborhood kids, looking for a thrill. Hopefully security will pay more attention and catch those little bastards. Or whoever keeps doing this.
keying somebody's car is soo low. I mean I have had those moments where I have gotten really angry and just wanted to break the person but I have always had the decency to never touch another person's car because I know how much mine means to me

Agreed, and Agreed
If I saw anyone screwing with my car, things would be... well, they certainly wouldn't be pretty, I can tell you that.
and vandalizing someone's car is cowardly. If you have a problem with another individual, you bring it up face to face. Keying a defenseless car to get back at a person is a really wimp move, no matter what the motive, and if someone's going to just go after some random cars for fun, well, I hope that the certain "someone" gets something in return (hey, karma's supposed to be a b!tch)
