Bizarre Heater Fan Stuff...

so about a month ago the heater fan started making this weird noise at full power sounded like a detroit diesel at WOT so being this winter is especially cold and my lack of funds i decided hey its still working F it ill wait till spring

well a couple of nights ago my lady friend switched the heat spread from floor to the upper vents (the one's above the stereo) and the noise seemed to stop
this morning i noticed a buntch of spongy black foam pices behing the vents

WTF is this from!!!!

That foam is part of the duct system. It's used as a seal between sections of the duct system. As the car ages, the foam rots, ends up in the system, and gets blown out through the vents. I've brushed tiny pieces of black foam off my clothes many times.

^ Whar unibalnme said. My 98 started doing that when it was only a few years old. It can really mess up light colored clothing.
