3rd Generation 93 wipers acting up

Hello camry owners,

My Camry has a mind of its own. She thinks it's funny to let things break when ever most inconvient. For instance having a flat on the coldest night of the year, doors freezing when carpooling. But today my camry decided to let the wipers have a turn at acting up.

Today I noticed that my wipers did not work. All that happned was they moved up a half inch, then went right back down. It seemed like the wipers were struggling to work.

Later in the day I had a friend turn on the wipers while I stood near the motor, it hummed away, and only moved the wipers half an inch as before. I then decided to cycle the wipers myself, and that seemed to force it to move.

So now they move up and down, but very slowly.

Also I checked the nut that holds the arms in place, they were tight and did not move.

Am I correct to guess this is a sign of a failing motor?
If it is, does anyone have a spare motor, or know of a junk yard near Toronto?

Many thanks,

Jordan

I had a similar problem on my 92. Motor worked fine but control rods were not moving with the motor. When I removed the plastic grill and got into the wiper compartment, found that a snap ring had broken off one of the control arms. Long story short, I went to a hardware store and replaced the snap ring. Fixed.

If I was you, I'd start with downloading your car's Factory Service Manual here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=497839), extract it, then open the pdf for the body (BO.pdf). If I knew how to attach files, I'd just send it to you. Anyway, find the section on Wipers, page BO-68. Tells you how to remove components in the correct order. This is not a difficult fix and the snap ring fix may not be needed for you. Good luck to you and consider sharing the results. I'd like to know how close I am!
