Trouble shooting, -dies when first started

Hi, Im looking for some diagnostic or troubleshooting advice. On the 94 LE, recently, (maybe because its colder?) the engine will start, but stall unless it is given some gas for the first 30 seconds or so.

Since the duration is so short, best guess would be a sticky IAC. Have you cleaned the throttle body recently?

Thanks,

Thanks, based on your advice, I just cleaned the throttle body, and followed the directions for cleaning the idle air control (IAC) valve.

I found the youtube video referenced in post two of this thread to be helpful.

I am letting it soak in seafoam clean now.

I need to do this on my '98 XLE. From time to time, it will start up and just die unless i have my foot on the gas a little. Never does it from a cold start though (Im guessing b/c the RPM is so high) it typically does it after the engine has warmed up and i stop to go into the store or somethin and when I come back, i get this problem. I hope the cleaning fixes this...

A dirty idle air control valve is the most likley cause. Refer to the same thread on cleaning the throttle body and idle air control valve tht hill85780 referenced.

Yah I read that (well, the one for the V6) I did it last night though, there was def some crap down in the little rectangle hole. Cleaned it all up and started it up and let it run for like 3 minutes. It started up fine this morning (but it always does) so I guess the test will be when I go home for lunch and need to start it warm.

Looks like it worked. I gave it a warm start today, fired right up, no foot on the gas. I changed the air filter too.... that def helped. Mine was grimey, had a pile of leaves in the airbox. Vacuumed that all out, hopefully i wont be having any problems in the near future.
