5SFE Timing Belt
I installed a new timing belt on my 94 Camry the other day. Just wanted to thank everyone for their help and suggestions from my other post. I also picked up a good tip from a friend. I got the belt on the crank pulley and all the other stuff. When it was time for the cam pulley which was lined up, I moved it clockwise 1 tooth making it slightly off. Then I installed the belt and rotated it 2 turns. This gets all the slack out of it and the timing marks end up matching. I cranked the starter a few times and checked again and it was still lined up. Put it all back together and it runs fine. Also, a 14mm ratcheting wrench is real nice for the lower bolts on the alternator bracket. This was my first timing belt job and it wasn't so bad. Thanks again!
