I am assuming you are trying to take one of your tail lights off?
The camry's lights are not accessable from inside the trunk liner.
To take them off to replace a bulb you will need to first open the trunk. On the side of the light that was previously obscured by the trunk you will find TWO (+) screws. Undo them and store them away safely. Removal of the plastic piece you saw is NOT involved with this process. IE. Dont touch that piece!
Instead, you will have to push your tail light outwards and away from the car. Eg. Right tail light would you require to push the light to the right. The reason is because the tail lights are secured with two pins and screws. You would have already remove the screws, now the pins are left holding the light to the body.
The pins are on there pretty tight and will require some force to make them budge.
Depending on your car the pins may be rusted somewhat and slightly stuck. However just push the light out and keep it parallel to the ground. Try not to twist the light around just push straight out to the right (or left).
After that, the bulb assembly will remove with a twist.
Hope this helps
