high rpm problem.... help me!!!

Hello, folks

I have a rpm problem of a 99 camry 2.2l A/T.

When I start the enigine in the morning, rpm always goes to 2000. It doesn't matter whether it's cold or hot. After 3 min the engine is warmed up, rpm goes down

I cleaned iac valve and throttle body but nothing changed. what's the problem?

My second question is a transmission noise

When I change gear, P>R, R>N , I hear that the transmission hit something.
Somebody says that's because of worn transmission. Is it true? how to fix it? should I change clutch thing or transmission?

thank you for your reply

The RPM could be normal. It doesn't matter whether it's 20f or 90f outside, it's still a "cold start" if the engine isn't previously warmed up.

My engine usually idles at 1,800 for the first 2 minutes in very cold temperature and 1,100-1,300 in not so cold, and for a shorter time.

The transmission: Sounds like a front motor mount. Climb under the engine and inspect it for cracks.

Or just have someone shift the trans while you look at the open mask. If the engine has too much movement, it will clunk. When you shift, the engine should jiggle a little bit, but not too much. I don't know how to give you an interval of how much is "too much". It's most likely the front motor mount though.

Like Retrospekt said, the idle thing may be more-or-less normal. What's she end up at once the engine is warmed up?

Not sure what you mean by "hit something". Like he said, look at the engine while someone shifts 'er back and forth, and see if the noise corresponds with major engine movement.

my camry 94 revs to 2k at start-up unless its really hot then its just under that. it seems normal to me. its just getting itself up to optimum temperature for combustion.

does ur tranny sort of clunk when u change gears? next time have someone look at the engine when u change gear (ONLY IF U GOT AN AUTO AND BE CAREFUL) and see if the engine shakes at all. if so u might wanna check ur engine mounts (motor mounts). does the steering wheel vibrate sometimes? that also signs of worm mounts.
