if no to junkyard is reman ok or go with new money is tight but i want to do it right... if this is the problem

Never touched one either, but. . .

It sounds like you had it all apart, yes?
Pull up an assembly drawing and confirm there is no baffle, plate, deflector, or something that takes flying oil and deflects it from the shaft.
Obviously these guys wanted the dist bushings to last so it may have lube hole feeding it from a galley. Any chance something on the return side is plugged, not allowing the oil to leave? A broken O-ring, engine sludge?

+1
What he said, the shaft may be worn beyond limits. Pull the distrib and confirm these items.

Step back a second here.

Why would oil be squirting out? The distributor o-ring seals against oil seeping, not against pressurized oil.

Check your crankcase ventilation. There shouldn't be pressure there.
