Am I really slow compared to other camrys like mine?
I'm gonna try to make another video, it was really cold out and it was sorta just in the moment

perhaps it feels slow becaue you not even comming close to redline. the tranny is shifting at a little over 5K, thats about a thousand RPMs your missing out on. in PWR mode and WOT my tranny wont shift till just before redline. when your shifting your being dropped WAY out of the power band, max TQ isnt even till like 4300 RPMs(not sure if thats the accurate # for the 3vz).

doesnt matter, it all depends what RPM you are shifting to. according to a couple places the max tq is 4400 and hp is 5200. you prolly want the tranny to shift around 6 grand so that you are dropped back between max tq and hp. even though you are passed you max hp your still accelerating and the longer your in gear the better rpm youll be at when it does shift and the less time and speed is wasted on shifting.

well bigbird is right on this...you want to carry the power to the next gear so the next gear hits the power band earlier.
but then car to car it's different...5SFE w/ auto have horrible top end so shifting closer to the redline is pointless.

How many miles on your 3VZFE? You should push in the "Power Mode" button on the tranny for better shift points.......

max tq is AT 4400 rpms, your not making 195lbft at 2K(unless you can show me a dyno sheet that says that), and your talking like the tq is the only side of the equation that matters. hp is a relationship between tq and rpm, and it matters as much if not more. and the engine is most efficent in terms of power at or near max hp. to not even come close to the max hp will cause you to miss out on valuable RPMs and shift points.

this is true, i know the 1mz is a little different sicne it doesnt have as strong a tq band but if at WTO the tranny is shifting at max hp, somthing doesnt seem right, ive driven my share of 3vzs and they had no problem reaching 6K. except from 3 > O/D, i dont think ive ever seem past 6K there.

one thing that has recently been noticed by a few of us is that theres a little, bump ill call it, in the throttle. you think your at WOT but if you push hard the peddel will depress a little more and in teh right rpm you can feel that. not sure if its an issue with the 3vz.

Why's he shifting around 5000 and why does the D light go out when the vehicle starts moving? I see some indicator at the bottom illuminate when the D light goes out-- what's this?
