ok well i started my car today and the radio turns on but i dont get anything out of the speakers. i checked any fuses and wires. i dont know anything else to look at. any ideas or suggestions? please let me know asap.
see if you can borrow a meter if you dont already have one and check you speakers. If you dont have an external amp the speakers should read 4 ohms. Sometimes a bad speaker will shut down the internal amp in the radio. Its not common with factory radios. More of a aftermarket radio thing but i have seen it happen.
yeah i have had the harness sitting around for a while i have just never found the time or the place to do it cause i live in minnesota and its never warm or nice out for that matter around here and it sucks.
I have bought a couple Radio/CD players from Crutchfield's for our Toyota's. Good prices, and I just solder the wires with the new harnesses. Mind you to me they sound great, I am older, and we are happy with them. of course if you demand high power music, then you must pay much more.
But, if you already have good speakers, and a good stereo is about $120.00. If you need speakers, plan on much more..
Also, the stereos have enough options to connect your iPod, and other devices..

I bought a new OEM antenna for the 93 Camry (less than $20.00 shipped..). I had to take the antenna motor off the car, and take the cover off, remove the old broken antenna plastic out of the housing... put it back together, and all works great!

I bought a nice Jensen radio/cd from Crutchfield's and put it in,, it's nice.. not expensive but good..
I only have one problem..
you know the kit they give to install it, and they give you the plastic holder thingy that takes up the space where the old CF player went under the original radio? The Kit you get with a new radio just give you a plastic thingy that uses the original brackets to bolt under the radio to fil in the space.. under the radio/cd..
Well, the Toyota face plate bezel that snaps in around the radio refuses to snap back into place, on the bottom part.. This is part of the toyota dash,, not the stuff directly on the radio..
the clearance of the plastic packet/change holder thingy (came witht he radio that takes the place of the original cd player.. under the radio and the bezel is to tight.. there is no clearance, and this causes the bezel faceplate plastic face with cig lighter around the radio... to not snap into place at the bottom part of it..
not the radio part, but the toyota part of plastic that goes around the radio and has the cig lighter in it too..
there is no clearnace, whoever desgined the plastic was way too ANAL and made it so it's to tight even with force it wil not snap back into place..
Also, the iPod din cable just connects inbthe back and I could not figure out how to do this professionally so I ran that cable out the back, out the side under the radio.. so it comes out under the glove compartment.. and it long enough to reach the front set passenger side..
I guess that how people use it,, very unprofessional
It's for my daughter anyways,, so as long as she is happy..

I know exactly what you mean. Same thing happened to me. Try to find a stock one of those. My LE came with it since the stock radio was single din.

I def feel you on that stupid plastic piece on the bottom. My bottom left side won't snap back into place so i am trying to cut off a lil of the plastic tray to make it fit
got mine to snap back into place.. ont he side of th stereo head unit are this tiny metal tabs, I bent them in a little bit, this made just enough room for the plastic toyota cover to snap back in around the radio..
now I have one more problem,, well nothing real bad, but the damned light fromt he stereo is extremely bright! Bright Blue! it blinds me at night, and my daughter was also not happy witht he extreme lighting fromt he stereo! There is no dimmer..
I need to fiind a way to dim the light.. either some sort of cover to diffuse the light,,, a cover that either stays over the face, like maybe a clear diffusing tape, that will not damge the face, but also can seee through it, but yet dims the light,,, or a cover that can go over the unit, but can be lifted to adjust the radio or put in/take out a CDRom..
It is insanely bright.. I read that others too have complained about this Jensen Radio cd player car stereo head unit being insanely bright (bright blue light!).
