Ok so the shocks/struts are SHOT on my 93 camry v6. I bought replacements after getting advice from some users on here, however they are not the correct ones. I bought cartridges and the car calls for the all in one (mount attached on bottom) Any one who has dealt with this knows what i mean. Is there anything i can do to still use the shocks i have or do i have to find new ones?!!
check the ones on the car now there should be a large nut where the rod retracts in to the pistion, screw that open and drop the cartage in, or else you need to go get new sealed struts

my brother drove the car before me. i got it and it is in VERY bad shape all around. ive already done a lot of work to it and now Im onto the suspension, rotation and balance and alignment and shell be riding nicely. Unfortunanty i do not have serviceable shocks on there now so ill be selling the cartridges and getting another set up.
140 K on stock shocks is pretty decent. I replaced mine around 150k and they were pretty shitty too. I couldn't even get a proper alignment until I got the new ones!
I'd get the monroe's. If you can afford it, get the quik struts. Easiest work you'll ever do in your life.
i ended up buying the best rear struts the local parts store had, monroe something, ended up at 191. now how do i get to the top of the rear struts? im guessing i have to fold down the rear seats cause i sure didnt see any mounts in the trunk.
yea figured it out. im making a how to as i do it since i did not see one on the forum already. I was gonna take it to a shop just to get it done but they said 600 dollars for labor, what a joke!! its taken me about an hour already and im half way done, granted im no novice to automotive work but 600 is just rediculous.
Yeah I had mine done this past summer for $800. Front and back.
I just didn't have a strut compressor and it seemed like a sketchy thing to do in my garage.
Now I would definitely do it myself, but whatever. It's all good.
