I was all set to replace my OEM brake flex lines with some stainless braided lines from RTP when I ran into a bit of an issue. On the brake pad side of the line (in the rear), the orignal lines have a heavy metal tab attached (permanently, as far as I could tell). This bolts onto the rig and provides mechanical support...otherwise it's pretty flippy-floppy. I checked the parts diagram on toyodiy, and there isn't a separate "tab" piece listed -- it shows as part of the flex line. Either I got sent bogus parts, or I'm missing something obvious. Anybody else do this recently? Any ideas?
Those are Techna Fit brake hoses, aren't they? I have the same ones, but in red.
I too had this issue. Well it's not that much of an issue. All I had to do was place that end of the hose in where the old hose was, then use two zip ties to hold it in there. I wrapped each zip tie through the bolt hole and around the new brake hose, routing them in opposite directions to get an "X" pattern.
Don't worry, the zip ties are more than strong enough, and since nothing is moving there they won't wear down at all. You will like these hoses. I noticed a mush stiffer pedal with mine.

No, they're RTP, although they may just be rebranded Techna-Fits -- they certainly look similar enough. Thanks for the recommendation, but I don't think I want zip ties (or the old standby, baling wire) holding a piece of my braking system together...if they decide to degrade and break five years down the road, there's gonna a whole lot of flexing of the metal brake lines.
I emailed their support guys a couple of days ago with photos, and talked to one of them on the phone today. Supposedly their supplier screwed up and didn't put the brackets on there, and they were going to send me the brackets. We shall see.

Got an email from the RTP folks today, telling me I should call their "supplier" directly so I can exchange the rear hoses, since the brackets can't be added after the hose is attached. I did a reverse lookup on the phone number -- it's the main support number for Techna-Fit
