3rd Generation Full Tune Up

Hi everyone,
I'm planning on doing a full tune up my 93 Camry V6 XLE but I don't know what to do. What does full tune up consist of? Can I do it myself or do I have to take her to a shop. If I do have to take her to a shop how much do you think its gonna cost me? Thanks

Since you, personally, are concerned about your poor performance, I would prioritize as follows (and add oxygen sensors). The first six are pretty easy to DIY, relatively cheap for parts & materials ($150, at most, for top of the line parts), and have a lot of bang for the buck. Frankly, I'd do the first three, then take it from there. Oh, BTW, if you can borrow a compression gauge from Autozone or another parts store, checking compression would be a real good thing to do while you're messing with the spark plugs.

tb cleaning
plugs
spark plug wire
PCV valve
cap/rotor
air filter (check it, anyhow)

Transmission flush with pan removing and cleaning
Differential flush (on 96 V6 it is separated from transmission)
Oxygen sensors (depending on age)
fuel filter
oil change
Brakes bleeding
Power steering flush
Coolant flush

Check timing. If it's been a while, do the t belt, water pump, seals and tensioners. Also, thermostats are cheap enough to where you might as well just change that.
Same goes for the air filter.

Don't just check under the hood...

While you're at it, get the car up in the air and inspect your suspension, frame, exhaust, etc. Don't limit your tuneup to just the engine/transmission.

Not quite tune up, but check hoses and drive belt`

I'd start with checking, and likely changing, air filter, spark plugs, then plug wires, distributor and cap. Wipers blades.

I never get around to some of the things that others have suggested, but I'd add, visually check the condition of the radiator hoses, and drive belts. If they bad, they can strand you on the side of the road. Also, check the color, and maybe smell of the fluids, coolant, brake, transmission, and if they look old, burnt contaminated, change them.
