3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Im new to the foriegn car world. I've driven a 93 camry on and off for about 3 years mostly off. But now i bought it and am fixing it up. I want to do a "classy" throaty exhaust upgrade and am looking for where to buy catback exhausts. If there is a magnaflow im sure that is what ill get.
there are no direct bolt-on catbacks for the gen3 except for bosal and they are retarded expensive and i think discontinued. your options are to make one, buy one for a gen4 and have teh hangers modded to fit or jsut install a muffler. unless your looking for performance gains(which a catback wouldnt really provide) then id suggest jsut getting a muffler you like and having it mounted.
well i have a bit of a leak and i was hoping there was a cat back but i can just patch it and get a muffler i guess. Thank you for the help, are there any websites for aftermarket parts for this gen camry or do you just have to find what u need where you can?
parts are very hard to find. you basicvally have to know what it is your looking for and look for just that. there are no sites that sell everything, unless you jsut looking for body kits and suspension. then a place liek andy'sautosport.com is pretty good.
stock size is about 2" but it jumps around a little, some places its crimped a little and some it widdens to 2.25". you can still go with your magnaflow, they have liek a billion choices and the sound is very deep and pretty throaty, even with everything else stock. there have been issues with drone however.
thanks a bunch for the help. ive actually deadened the entire floor of the car but the trunk so far. Hopefully that will help a bit with drone problems. Im going to look into some 2 inch magnaflows and hopefully get one put in. Thanks again. What lowering springs would u suggest? i just put on the best monroe shocks that advanced had because i needed them on in a hurry.
I wouldn't suggest Intrax. I got intrax springs for my Gen 4.5 and the front springs creak when I turn the wheel, and noone seems to have a good idea why. Someone ppl suggested they were for a I4 instea of a v6, but no one is really sure.
With gas mileage such a great concern outfits like Toyota don't just slap any old muffler on anymore. The whole system from intake to muffler is engineered for good performance. If you are just looking for donut attracting sound you may give up low end torque for it. Those Civics with the F cans which stall at lights are a classic examplr of more noise than power.

well thats because theyre exhausts most of the time are header-back with no cat or resonator. the muffler be it as big or small dont make as big a impact on exhaust sound as the resonator, cat, and the header/s.
