3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Finally got around to taking some photos....as you can see, pure devastation. These past 2 nights I've been up 4-5 am cause Im just worried sick about this. Not so much how it looks...but the whole situation. The whole process of getting this hit and run is seemingly dragging along. Not to mention I just moved to a new city and am contemplating on whether I should stay or leave now that all this has happened.
Anyway...as you can see, all messed up, tire out of alignment. Just a mess. I went from driving a descent car to basically a POS.
If there's any doubt in anyone's mind, looking at accident photos won't cause you to end up in one. I took drivers ed and a night school class back in High school and looked at stuff like this daily. that has kept me out of an accident since I got my license 2003...and I've yet to cause one.
The good news...still runs, was able to get the metal pulled away from the tire, and had to buy a new battery
Oh I meant to say...the car that hit me is F*CKED UP! I have pics of that too, but all Im going to say is it isn't legal on the road. There's no front to the car...He'd been better off slamming into a brick wall. This had to be a 25-30 mph collision. 40 would have left us stranded...this came close.

+1, it looks like there could be some frame damage.
Especially the way that door sits, the door hinges must be ripped apart, causing frame damage. & the rear quarter panel would be a bitch.
Write off.
Get what you can, buy a new Gen 3/3.5 Camry.

+1... That looks pretty bad on a repair standpoint. I buy wrecked cars everyday, and to me it's not really a bad hit, but to the average guy, to fix it and put it back to normal, it's rather far from reach. The main concern isn't the caved in door, but the quarter and dog leg are beyond repair, factor in the way the top of the wheel is shoved in, there is catastrophic failure to the rear suspension. Sorry man... Good luck.
I figured...the estimate is something like several days of work. The bent in wheel is apparently a strut, but thats just visual. They did say who knows whats behind the door.
Unfortunently I can't really do much about getting it fixed or a replacement yet. May just fix the strut asap and just ride it out for a bit. Thats if its all that is causing it to be bent.
The suspension actually seems fine. Car rides as if its never been hit...I had a bent tire rod before, now that was awful. Tire was wobbling, and then one day I swerved to avoid rear ending some fool who jumped in front of me and it lost control and hit and street sign (minor damage that time!)
Yeah, I have to say my camry has about 9 lives...Not sure how many more it has left. All I know is when I bought it, was from a mechanic who got it from an auction...so maybe it was close enough.
My 1st car, an old 87 Buick had about 20 lives...I eventually sold it for 200. The paint job was just as bad...rusted top, dents...but drove like a charm.
My Camry, on the other hand...seems to get into a lot of 'shuffles' and 'setbacks' which has frankly happens to me about twice a year.
If you say it stills drive fine maybe there's hope. Get it safety checked by a mechanic you trust should cost u around 50 dollars If it's safe to drive and you don't mind the having a useless door I say ride the car out till it wears out it's last life. Was a good looking car. otherwise sell and buy a new one
